Fear.

Fear.

Something that holds us all back.

Something that stops us from making changes.

Something that can leave us stuck.

Something that can get in the way of happiness.

Something that prevents us from taking chances.

Fear.

What would it be like if you weren’t afraid?

How would your life look if you took the chances you really wanted too?

How would you feel if you could change the things that make you unhappy?

Where would you be if you took a leap in a different direction?

Can you picture yourself if you weren’t afraid?

Fear.

We live in a world where some fear is realistic. Yes there are times for being appropriate and making safe choices. But this isn’t the kind of fear I am talking about. I am taking about the kind of fear that holds people back. The type of fear that prevents change. That leaves people stuck – repeating patterns. Patterns that might be making them very unhappy.

Fear.

Questions that arise – what if I fail? What if I am not good enough? What if I get it wrong? What if people judge me? What if I will never be happy? What if im making a mistake? What if this is the best things will ever be?

But think about it in a different way. From a different perspective. What if you will be happier? What if you will feel calmer? What If something better is waiting for you on the other side?

If you never try, you will never know. To an extent you may feel safe. But what you feel safe in may also make you feel suffocated or unhappy.

Look around you… what would you like to change? Is there something you would like to do differently? Is there somewhere else you would like to truly be? Maybe there is something you would really like to achieve.

For some people this could be a new job, a new educational course, launching their own business or learning a language. For others it could be a physical challenge that they have never done before. For some it could be visiting somewhere they have never been. Other people might be stuck in a destructive relationship and afraid to leave it. Some may be living with an addiction or eating disorder – equally as destructive for them and equally fear provoking in terms of recovery and living without it.

There are so many things that people would like to do differently and so many adventures that they would like to embark on. But more often then not, the chance isn’t taken, because fear gets in the way. So many times people are afraid to get things wrong, afraid to fail in some way or afraid that it wont work out. This fear leaves them stuck, more often then not in something that isn’t working for them. But if they were able to take that leap – imagine what could be waiting on the other side.

Close your eyes for one moment.

Visualise your life as you would like it to be.

Feel the energy that this gives you. Hold on to that feeling.

Now be aware of what is holding you back.

Challenge those thoughts with positive affirmations. Talk to yourself with self-belief.

Now focus on making the changes that you want and begin to move forward in a positive direction.

It won’t be easy. It wont be simple. It might take some time.  But ultimately you can do it. You are the author of your own book.

Don’t let your fears hold you back.

You CAN do this.
