Therapy for Children and Young People

Here at Your counselling service we recognise that children and young people need to be able to access therapeutic services – now more then ever. They can often feel overwhelmed by thoughts and emotions, and struggle to express what they are feeling. Children and young people often feel nervous about starting counselling and meeting a new adult can be daunting and at times overwhelming for them.

For this reason several of our team offer a safe, confidential and non judgmental space for children and young people, where the goal is for them to explore their thoughts and feelings in a natural and comfortable way.  Our team focus on the individual needs of each child and young person, adapting their approach and style where necessary. The team work hard to engage children/young people and to form a therapeutic relationship with them.  They use a range of therapeutic approaches that are all age appropriate – such as creative arts, play and talking therapies.

Our team believe that every child / young person is unique and individual, and they adapt therefore to the needs of each client that they see. They are all registered with the BACP and have extensive experience and training within the area of children and young people.  They work with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds and with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, attachment, bereavement, bullying, trauma, low mood, abuse, complex relationships, self harm, gender and sexuality exploration, impact of social media among many.

Several of our team are trained and specialise in working with children / young people.

Within our team we can offer the following –

Rochelle Newington – works with children and adolescents age 7 plus

Becky Brendling – works with children and adolescents age 7 plus

Leanne Hooper – works with adolescents age 14 plus
