Several of our team are trained and specialise in this area. Up until now we have been offering therapeutic services for age 12 plus.

We are now very excited to also be able to offer our services for age 3 upwards. Our therapist Nita is very experienced in this area and specialises in working with children and young people age 3 – 19.

This service will be offered on a Monday and  Wednesday afternoon and evening (after school hours). Please get in touch for further information.

Nita Mehta – Therapeutic Counsellor, specialising with Children & Young People

Is your child or young person struggling with their thoughts and emotions?

I am a trained Therapeutic Counsellor specialised in working with children and young people primarily aged 3-19 years old. I am passionate about working with this age group and committed to strengthening their mental health and wellbeing.

Children and young people can feel nervous about starting counselling and meeting a new adult to share their worries can be daunting. My integrative training means I work in a child-centred way, responsive and led by their individual needs and maturity; by drawing on the creative arts, play and talking therapies that are age appropriate to facilitate communication and form a therapeutic bond.

I offer a safe, confidential and non judgmental space for your child/young person to express their thoughts and feelings in a natural and comfortable way building authentic engagement as I believe every child and young person is unique. I explore sensitively with them to find out what is life like for them and consider what is it they are trying to convey?  By validating their view of how they see themselves and their inner world, counselling sessions with a trained professional offer a child or young person experiencing emotional distress the opportunity to express their difficulties and discover an awareness and sense of self to emotionally navigate the present and form new perspectives promoting healing, change and growth.

I am a registered BACP member holding positions in schools, a specialist counselling centre and working with multi agencies resulting in a wealth of experience of working with children and adolescents from a multitude of diverse backgrounds presenting with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, attachment, bereavement, bullying, trauma, low mood, abuse, complex relationships, SEND needs, self harm, gender and sexuality exploration, impact of social media among many.

With the consent of the child/young person therapy may involve consulting with parents or caregivers.   I am open to discussing worries you may have and how we might collaborate to foster strategies to improve the emotional and psychological wellbeing of your child/young person.
